Being IN FLOW

I don't know about you, but I love being IN FLOW. When I am IN FLOW, I am highly focused on what I am doing, I am very productive and I feel as though I am flying. It feels as though the world is just as it should be and time is eternal.

Unfortunately, I don't seem to manage to get IN FLOW very often. There are lots of distractions.  In my job, people are my priority and so I am continually being pulled away from tasks I am trying to complete or the thinking I am engaged in, to do the thing that is MOST important.

I mostly get in flow when I work early in the morning and everyone else is sleeping. I love the deep engagement with ideas and concepts that is possible during that quiet time.

If I haven't experienced FLOW for a while, I become quite desperate for it and I have to create spaces in my life to ensure I experience it. As an introvert, I need the deep engagement (the deeper the better) with ideas and thoughts because they refresh me and recharge me so that I can do my job with new energy.

Harakeke Hub have found that some students also really like quiet spaces when they work. Some also like to be left alone to focus on their learning tasks. As a result, they are creating quiet places around the Hub where people can go and get "IN FLOW" without being disturbed. Tents have popped up around the Hub to help with this and so have signs which say, "Please don't bother me: I am in flow." Students are using these to create the equivalent to my quiet mornings.
